Flow vs. Dapper: How are they Related?
The Flow blockchain has only been around for a couple years, but is well-known as a beginner-friendly and flexible ecosystem. Many people who get started with NFTs need a blockchain which is easy to understand and get started on.Â
Dapper Wallet allows multiple payment methods to load and get started buying NFTs across the Flow ecosystem. It powers many popular NFT projects across the blockchain.Â
But what is the difference between Flow and Dapper? What are the future plans to bring them even closer together? Let’s break it down.
Flow and Dapper Beginnings
Roham Gharegozlou is the CEO of Dapper Labs and Flow. Dapper Labs created CryptoKitties, Flow, and NBA Top Shot. CryptoKitties was the first widely recognized blockchain game, and was founded on the Ethereum blockchain back in 2017. The game crashed the Ethereum blockchain because so many wanted to breed their digital cats.Â
The gas fees for CryptoKitties were even higher than the price of the NFTs themselves. It became so cost-prohibitive with gas fees that Dapper decided it would build its own blockchain built for high-volume, and so Flow was born.
Flow Blockchain Wallet
Many projects on the Flow blockchain are powered by the native token $FLOW. Blocto is a wallet that you can use to access, send, spend, and stake your $FLOW, just like MetaMask for Ethereum.Â
You can buy $FLOW on KuCoin, Kraken, Uphold, Moonpay, and many other exchanges, and transfer it into your Flow wallet. It’s not the easiest cryptocurrency to find, but should become more widely available in the future.Â
The Flow Port portal is where you can log in with your Blocto wallet. From there, it will show your $FLOW balance, your $FUSD balance (Flow stablecoin), stake, delegate, get $FLOW, and send $FLOW. Your Blocto wallet address is tied to your email address, and it’s easily visible within the Flow Port.
On Evaluate.Market, you can see the estimated value of the NFTs in your Blocto wallet. By going to Accounts > Manage Wallets, you can add both your Blocto and Dapper wallets to give you an accurate estimate of your NFT portfolio value.Â
Dapper Wallet
Unlike Blocto, Dapper is a custodial wallet. This means that Dapper holds the private keys for your wallet, and a KYC is required to withdraw funds. Dapper Wallet does not yet support $FLOW tokens directly.Â
Dapper funds can be loaded in USD by credit card or bank account. It can also be loaded in crypto with ETH, BTC, BCH, DAI, and USDC.
In the future, it has been hinted that Dapper and Blocto will be more combined, and $FLOW will be able to pay for NFTs across the entire ecosystem seamlessly, not just for some projects.Â

Project Examples
Current projects which support Dapper Wallet are:
BALLERZ and Sneakerz
Flunks
The Player’s Lounge
Genies
Projects which take payment in $FLOW are:
Flovatar
Matrix World
…and many others
Marketplaces
Right now, there are a variety of marketplaces on the Flow ecosystem. Some are hosted within the project’s own platform.Â
For example, NBA Top Shot and Flovatar have their own native marketplaces. However, NFL All Day, BALLERZ, and Flunks marketplaces are powered by Gaia. Gaia is the first marketplace on Flow to integrate the Dapper wallet. It is known for being extremely fast.Â
The Flow project Hoodlums is on the secondary marketplace Sturdy Exchange, where they can be purchased with USD, ETH, or BTC.Â
On Evaluate Market, you can check out many of the latest Flow NFT project listings, regardless of marketplace. These include NBA Top Shot, NFL All Day, BALLERZ, UFC Strike, and Eternal. The listings page offers single-click links to snipe your favorite NFTs.Â
Summary
Dapper Labs founded the Flow blockchain in order to create a flexible, scalable solution with lower gas fees. As it has scaled, the native token $FLOW has been used for more projects on the blockchain.Â
Although Dapper Wallet remains extremely popular, Blocto is gaining steam as a non-custodial wallet option on Flow. Eventually, Dapper Wallet will support $FLOW, but for now it remains a user-friendly option to bring new people into the world of NFTs.Â
In the spirit of Web3, the Flow ecosystem is highly decentralized, so projects can choose their preferred currency and marketplace. Evaluate.Market makes it easy to see sales trends and listings all in one place, for multiple projects on Flow.Â
